What to Do for Halloween in London

Candy, ghouls, and spiced pumpkin soup, Halloween is a great holiday to look forward to. If you head to London during the spooky season, there are more events going on than you can shake a broomstick at. And who knows? With London’s sometimes gory and tragic history, you may even see a few real ghosts, in person, on All Hallow’s Eve. Book your flight and hotel for a getaway that’s sure to send chills up your spine.

Pumpkin Picking

A great way to spend your day, if the kids scare easily, is to go pumpkin picking, so you can carve your own Jack ‘O Lantern at home. You won’t have to pay anything to go and see this beautiful field full of pumpkins, but you will have to pay for what you pick – it’s a lovely way to go and get stuck in with the kids, minus the jump-scares.

Pet Pavilion

Halloween doesn’t get much cuter than at London’s Pet Pavilion. In the Kensington and Chelsea branches, pets will be receiving a special Halloween makeover, complete with costumes. Who says that the humans get to have all of the fun?

Union Chapel

A highly popular Halloween event, you can spend the night in a Gothic Union chapel, which will be screening a number of classic horrors, over the space of a couple of days. The atmosphere is amazing, and this event comes with a special recommendation from us. Fancy dress is always encouraged, so come in your best witchy outfit.

El Patron’s Spooky Menu

We hope your stomach is settled. El Patron will be serving up a special menu, just for the Halloween season; we’re talking dried worms, cockroaches, and scorpions, all served up in soft tortillas. Just close your eyes and you’ll be fine – everything is safe to eat (if a little crunchy)! There will be face painting, and why not dress up in a zombie outfit for the occasion?

For a skin-crawling show at London Bridge’s Tombs, try not to scream for 30 minutes, as you encounter genetic mutations and twisted behaviour. You have to be 16 or over to attend this event, due to the content, so this one is for the adults.

Halloween Run

If you’re looking to get in your daily run, but you want to spice things up a little, Royal Park has set up a fancy dress fundraiser race for a variety of tame distances, including 2K, 5K, and 10K. There are even themed zones, to make sure that your adrenaline kicks-in, and gives you an extra boost to the finish line. Watch out for witches, zombies, and ghouls chasing your heels!

Fancy Dress Ghost Walk

Ghost walks are always fun, in historic cities like London. However, around Halloween, these events are always taken to the next level. Put on your best spooky outfit and take to the streets of London, to hear all of the ghastly and spine-tingling stories that this ancient city has to offer. But keep your wits about you – you don’t know what’s lurking around the corner!

I like the sound of the pet pavilion. I’d definitely skip the horror movies though. I wouldn’t be able to sleep for days!
